Daily Review
End each project or even the end of each day by conducting a review. This provides a constructive sense of completion and frees you up mentally and emotionally to start the next project with a fresh perspective and clean slate. This also sets up a positive upward spiral of growth and development.
Self-Awareness
How aware are we of our strengths, weaknesses, our impact on others, or where we put our energy when we're on autopilot? Now more than ever, in this time of unprecedented fear and uncertainty, we owe it to ourselves and to others to be more discriminating about what we watch, read, listen to and share. 'People tend to be generous when sharing their nonsense, fear, and ignorance… They seem quite eager to feed you their negativity… Be cautious with what you feed your mind and soul. Fuel yourself with positivity and let that fuel propel you into positive action.' - Steve Maraboli.
Circle of Influence
Coaching Thought:
'The world is perfect. It’s a mess. It has always been a mess. We are not going to change it. Our job is to straighten out our own lives'. – Joseph Campbell. What a great time to stop worrying about global events and take stock of our own backyards.
Follow your Passion
Coaching Thought:
'The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.' -Steve Jobs
Enthusiasm!
Coaching Thought:
'Flaming enthusiasm, backed up by horse sense and persistence, is the quality that most frequently makes for success.' ~Dale Carnegie.
Growth and Development
Coaching Thought:
'In what areas are you learning and growing? If the answer is none, that means you’re stagnating or regressing. Learn more, earn more, know more, grow more!' – Rob Liano; coach, author. Now more than ever, there is no excuse for not upskilling and expanding your knowledge base. Technology in the last Covid year has exploded, and everything is literally at your fingertips. During this period, more learning institutions than ever before have provided free education, courses and resources. There is almost no subject you can't dig deeper into, if you have a curious mind and a thirst for knowledge. Your physical body may be in lockdown situations, but your mind most certainly isn't. And knowledge is one of life's true treasures, that no one can ever take away from you.
Perfectionism vs Effectiveness
Coaching Thought:
How often have we hamstrung ourselves by not completing a project because we felt it wasn't perfect? Maybe even prided ourselves on our 'high standards?' 'Understanding the difference between healthy striving and perfectionism is critical ….. Research shows that perfectionism hampers success. In fact, it’s often the path to depression, anxiety, addiction, and life paralysis'.~ Brene Brown
Our Philosophy of Coach Supervision
Supervision involves contracting on 3 different levels – practical, psychological and professional. It helps coaches become unstuck; encourages global perspective to rise above detail and assess the impact on all key players; facilitates making sense of events; increases a coach’s confidence; supports coaches’ professional and personal development.
Failure or Pathway to Success?
Coaching Thought:
Failure is so often considered a negativity. But failure is actually just information - how to do things differently. If you mine for the gems in everything that happens, you are constantly learning new ways, new information. All of which brings you closer to success. As Edison, inventor of the light bulb, said, 'I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.' Every failure should be a stepping stone to something better. You start the next project from a place of higher knowledge.
